A professional artist with one of the strongest academic educations in Russia, Anna comes from a family where painting isn't chosen; it's born with it.

Anna's path led her through two legendary educational institutions. The Vasnetsov Abramtsevo College, a school on the site of a famous 19th-century art colony, gave her an understanding of form and material. The Surikov Institute, the country's premier academy, developed her into a master of monumental painting: an art in which the painting operates not within a frame, but in space.

Her mentors were Ivan Lubennikov (People's Artist of Russia, author of murals for metro stations in Moscow and Paris) and Evgeny Maximov (Vice President of the Academy of Arts, who painted the dome of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior). Under their guidance, Anna mastered scale, the use of light in architecture, and, most importantly, the ability to influence a person's state through painting.

Today, Anna is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, a laureate of national exhibitions, and the author of works recognized as part of the country's cultural heritage. Her paintings are in the Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics, the Russian Art Gallery in China, and private collections around the world.

There is painting that decorates. There is painting that impresses. And then there is painting that works.

Anna Bykova's works belong to the third type. Each of her canvases—whether a psychological portrait, a floral arrangement, or a cosmic scene—is created not simply as an image, but as an energetic object: a work that interacts with the space and the person occupying that space.

This is not esotericism in the usual sense of the word. It is the practical knowledge of a master trained in monumental painting—an art whose very purpose is to transform the environment. Frescoes in cathedrals were not created for beauty: they shaped experience. Murals in public buildings set the emotional tone for entire halls. Anna transferred this ability from the architectural scale to the space of private interiors.

Cosmic works occupy a special place in her work—paintings inspired by ideas about the universe, energy flows, and the connection between man and the universe. These aren't illustrations for an astronomy textbook, but rather pictorial meditations—paintings that make you pause, pause, and listen to something within yourself.

Equally renowned are her floral series—works painted in her signature mixed media, in which flowers appear not as still lifes but as living sources of mood, warmth, and light. Owners of these works often remark that the space with and without the painting are two different places.

Portrait: The Science of Seeing a Person

In portraiture, Anna combines academic impeccability with a gift for seeing the invisible. Her portraits are not oil photographs. They are explorations of personality: character, inner state, the energy that makes a person who they are.

This approach was embodied in the monumental painting "Commonwealth" (3 x 2 m, 2016)—a group portrait of the heads of the world's largest states, created for the international project "One Belt, One Road." Each leader is depicted with individual character, and the painting's message is unity beyond disagreement, humanity beyond politics. The original is in the Russian Art Gallery in China.

Since 2006, she has participated in national and international exhibitions. Since 2013, she has been conducting solo projects in Russia and abroad. Her works have been exhibited in Shanghai, Moscow, European plein airs, diplomatic residences, Shanghai EXPO, and the Embassy of Benin. Her works are present in museum and private collections on three continents.
